Design Anxiety

Design Anxiety is based around a journal I kept for 8 days. All the topics in my journal circled around my relationships, grappling with how to become a designer, and my time in college. I was feeling very anxious around this time and wanted to create a design that made my viewers just as anxious. This journal is presented as a puzzle, because isn't life just a giant puzzle that needs to be solved.

Twister Movie Script

This book was created using the script from the movie Twister. The book was designed to appear as a tornado hit it, with the type askew and torn through the book. To make the book more interactive, I created a “tornado box”. The “tornado box” consists of a vortex created out of water, a computer fan, and a magnet stirring rod. To make a tornado you push the switch. There is also an option to create lightning.

Cold Comfort Farm

This is a special edition DVD package for the movie Cold Comfort Farm.

Cold Comfort Farm is a 1995 made for TV British film. It is an adaption of the book, by the same name, by Stella Gibbons. One of the themes of the movie and book is over dramatized doom and gloom of stories written in the 1930’s. Running with that idea, I designed and built an window that was a replica of a specific window in the movie, the infamous Aunt Ida’s window. The window represents that idea of a “gloomy outlook”. I also wanted to include the actual text of the book. So I re-designed the whole book and placed the movie DVD at the end of the story. The DVD was designed with the text of the chapter to reprint the idea of a story within a story.
